![]() Maybe he is on his way to a performance or something. I always thought whenever he went out in public, he would change out of his costume he uses for his show, but here he is, right in front of me, with his whole getup on. I can’t believe Tape Face just caught me staring at him. He seems to be laughing a little underneath the tape. I look away, feeling extremely embarrassed. Tape Face waves a hand in front of my face, making me realize I was staring at him for quite some time. But the thing that makes him stand out from anyone else the most is a thick black piece of tape that covers his entire mouth. He wears a black and white striped shirt with a black jacket over it. His cute eyes are wide with excitement and surrounded by thick, black eyeliner. He's so cute, I think to myself, Just look at him. He seems to get really excited and pleased to meet a fan. Besides, he looks exactly like him, it’s impossible for him to be anybody else. I am in Vegas and he has his House of Tape here. “You are Tape Face?!” I am shocked but at the same time, I know I should’ve figured it out. His eyes get even bigger as he nods several times and points at himself. “You look a lot like Tape Face,” I tell him. I’m so tired and for some reason, I actually think that it’s a good idea to go up and talk to this Tape Face lookalike. I don’t really have any friends or family that care about me, so I travel by myself a lot. That’s why I thought I was losing it when I saw a man who looked oddly like Tape Face, my favorite AGT act ever, walk by. I’m tired and I can’t seem to focus on anything. He also reveals a fun fact about himself and shares that before going up on stage, he puts a tiny piece of gaffer tape somewhere in the venue, be it under a table or a chair, for good luck.So, here I am, sitting right outside my hotel just after seeing a show in Vegas. “The multi-city tour has been fantastic so far and the reactions I’ve got from people to my shows have been pretty amazing,” he tells us. Up next on his India tour, Sam has performances lined up in Mumbai and Kolkata. And, once that happened, I was obviously out of the show,” he jokes. I made a whole lot of noise and got their attention. “It was a private function and the crowd didn’t want to watch a show so I ended up tipping all my props into a big pile in the middle of the stage. However, he also tells us about the time when he faced his toughest audience when he was performing at the London Museum. I ended up using a cheaper quality tape which felt weird on my face,” he shares. I use a particular kind of tape and I once forgot it at a venue and I had to race across town to do another show. ![]() It was a very simple character in the beginning but, now, it has more layers.” While most comedians’ nightmares would be to perform in front of a tough audience, Sam tells us that his nightmare would be forgetting his tape! “This has happened once before. “A lot of inspiration for the character also comes from Tim Burton’s black, white and grey style and his slightly off-centred skew of life. He also reveals that his character is close to his real life as he is a “bit of a goth from the 90s,” as he defines himself. “When I write comedy I make sure that it is completely bipartisan and has no involvement with politics or any countries or governments. ![]() Talking about whether his material for the India tour differs from what he performs back home, Sam tells us that the beauty of his art form is the fact that it is international and doesn’t deal with any political issues at all. ![]()
